Nigar Sultana Joty to Lead Bangladesh in 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup

Kathmandu: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.

Experienced batter Nigar Sultana Joty will captain the side, with left-arm spinner Nahida Akter named as her deputy. The squad remains largely consistent with the team that secured qualification earlier this year in Nepal with an undefeated run.

Nigar Sultana Joty (C), Nahida Akter (VC), Sharmin Akter Supta, Sobhana Mostary, Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Rabeya Khan, Fahima Khatun, Fariha Islam Trisna, Marufa Akter, Shanjida Akther Maghla, Sultana Khatun, Dilara Akter, Juairiya Ferdous, and Tajnehar.

Preparation and Schedule:

The team is set to depart for Edinburgh on May 25 to compete in a tri-series against Scotland and the Netherlands. This will be followed by official warm-up matches in Loughborough to acclimatize to English conditions.  

Bangladesh is placed in Group 1 and will open their campaign against the Netherlands on June 14 at Edgbaston
