Scotland Edge Out USA in a Two-Run Thriller at Kirtipur

Kathmandu: Scotland secured a dramatic two-run victory over the USA under the DLS method in their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 clash at the TU Cricket Ground today.

In a rain-shortened 47-over match, Scotland posted a massive 321/6. Chasing a revised DLS target of 249 in 32 overs, the USA finished at 246/8, falling agonizingly short in a last-ball finish.

Mukkamalla’s Ton in Vain

The USA’s chase was fueled by a sensational century from Saiteja Mukkamalla, who smashed 104 runs off just 75 balls, featuring 5 fours and 8 sixes. Smit Patel supported him with a brisk 72 off 56 balls. Despite their efforts, the USA lost crucial wickets in the final overs. Harmeet Singh hit a six off the final delivery, but it wasn't enough to seal the win.

Scotland’s bowling remained disciplined under pressure, with Brad Currie, Brandon McMullen, and Safyaan Sharif each picking up two wickets.

Scotland’s Batting Fireworks

Earlier, Scotland’s batters dominated the crease. Finlay McCreath anchored the innings with 77 off 102 balls, while Matthew Cross (58 off 32) and Brandon McMullen (55 off 40) provided explosive middle-order knocks.

For the USA, Saurabh Netravalkar and Jasdeep Singh claimed two wickets each, but Scotland’s late-order hitting proved to be the difference-maker in the end.
