Scotland Edges Nepal by 2 Runs in League 2 Thriller

Kathmandu: Nepal suffered a narrow 2-run defeat against Scotland in the opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series on Tuesday.

Chasing a revised DLS target of 221 runs in 39 overs due to rain, Nepal finished at 218/7 at the end of their allotted overs.

Gulshan Jha kept the home crowd's hopes alive with a sensational unbeaten 61 runs, but his heroics weren't enough to cross the finish line. Dipendra Singh Airee played a solid knock of 55 runs, while Captain Rohit Paudel contributed 32. Other contributors included Aasif Sheikh (21), Karan KC (18), and Binod Bhandari (10).

Earlier, after being put into bat first at the TU Cricket Ground, Scotland posted 243/8 in their full 50 overs. However, the interruption caused by rain before the start of the second innings led to a revised target for Nepal.

With this loss, Nepal missed out on crucial points in the League 2 standings. Nepal is now set to face the USA in their next match of the series.
