Niruta Thagunna Appointed Captain of Nepal’s National Women’s Volleyball Team
KATHMANDU: The Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) has appointed Niruta Thagunna as the new captain of the Nepali National Women's Volleyball Team.
The NVA announced the decision through its official Facebook page following the 69th Central Committee meeting held today.
Under Niruta’s leadership, Nepal will compete in the upcoming CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship, which is scheduled to kick off in Kathmandu next week. Extending its congratulations, the association wished her a successful tenure and expressed high confidence that the women's team would reach new heights under her captaincy.
The change in leadership comes as the outgoing captain, Aruna Shahi, is currently out of the country.
Niruta has been a crucial member of the national volleyball team for nearly seven years. She was part of the historic squad that won the Central Zone title and secured a silver medal at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG). Nationally, Niruta also serves as the captain of the Armed Police Force (APF) club.
