Nepal to Host CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship Starting This May

Kathmandu: The Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women’s Volleyball Championship is set to kick off in Nepal in the second week of June (Jestha). The Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) officially announced the tournament details during a press conference held on Sunday.

Tournament Schedule and Venue

The championship is scheduled to take place from June 8 to June 15 (Jestha 25 to Ashar 1) at the Covered Hall of Dasharath Rangasala in Tripureshwor. During the press conference, NVA President Jitendra Bahadur Chand confirmed that all necessary preparations are complete. The official trophy of the tournament was also unveiled on the occasion.

A total of eight countries will compete for the title. The participating teams include:

Nepal (Host)

India

Iran

Kazakhstan

Kyrgyzstan

Sri Lanka

Bangladesh

Maldives

Impact on World Rankings

As this championship is an official event under the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the matches will carry significant weight. The results will directly impact the FIVB World Rankings of the participating nations, making it a crucial tournament for Nepal's international standing.


Budget and Preparation

The NVA has estimated a total budget of Rs 25 million (2 crore 50 lakhs) for the successful operation of the event. Currently, a 16-member preliminary Nepali squad is undergoing intensive training to prepare for the home challenge.
