IPL 2026: RCB Grab No. 1 Spot After Thrashing Mumbai Indians in Last-Ball Thriller!
Raipur :The Indian Premier League (IPL) witnessed a heart-stopping finale on Sunday night as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) knocked five-time champions Mumbai Indians out of the tournament. In a high-stakes encounter that went down to the very last ball, Bengaluru secured a gritty 2-week victory to officially claim the No. 1 spot on the points table.
Chasing a target of 167, Bengaluru found their hero in Krunal Pandya, who played a sensational knock of 73 runs. Despite a lethal bowling spell from Mumbai’s Corbin Bosch, who snatched 4 wickets, Bengaluru kept their nerves steady. With 2 runs needed off the final delivery, RCB’s lower order completed the task, sparking wild celebrations in the dugout.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians were restricted to 166/7, thanks to a clinical bowling performance by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who dismantled the Mumbai top order with a 4-wicket haul. While Tilak Varma (57) and Naman Dhir (47) fought hard for Mumbai, their efforts went in vain as the bowling unit failed to defend the total in the dying moments.
With 14 points from 11 matches, Bengaluru now sits comfortably at the top of the table, edging out Hyderabad and Gujarat on Net Run Rate. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians, with only 6 points, have become the first major team to be officially eliminated from the playoff race this season.
