Nepal Women Kick Off T20 Series With Hard-Fought Victory Over Malaysia

KATHMANDU: Nepal Women’s cricket team kicked off their T20 series against Malaysia with a hard-fought 2-wicket victory on Wednesday.


Chasing a modest target of 68 runs, Nepal lost 8 wickets but managed to cross the finish line in 17.3 overs. Samjhana Khadka anchored the chase with a crucial 32 runs, while Rubi Poddar contributed 15. Openers Bindu Rawal and Puja Mahato both departed without opening their accounts.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat at the UKM-YSD Oval, Malaysia collapsed under pressure, getting bowled out for just 67 runs in 16.5 overs. Elsa Hunter was the top scorer for the hosts with 10 runs, as no other Malaysian batter managed to reach double digits.

Puja Mahato led Nepal's dominant bowling attack with 3 wickets. Manisha Upadhyaya and Riya Sharma took 2 wickets each, while Sita Rana Magar and Kabita Kunwar chipped in with 1 wicket apiece.

This tour serves as a preparation series for the Nepali women's team ahead of the Asia Cup Qualifiers, featuring two T20 matches against the hosts.
