Nepal Begin Asian Games Women's Qualifiers with 19-Run Win Over China
Kathmandu: Nepal's women’s cricket team started their Asian Games Qualifiers campaign with a 19-run victory over China at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday.
Opting to bat first, Nepal posted 125 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Vice-captain Puja Mahato anchored the innings with a brilliant half-century, scoring 63 runs, while Ruby Poddar added 22.
In response, China was restricted to 106 for 5. Chinese captain Mei Yong Zhu scored 30 runs, Wang Heing made 21, and Wei Haiting contributed 18, but it wasn't enough to chase down the target.
For Nepal, Riya Sharma took 2 wickets, while Manisha Upadhyay, Kabita Kunwar, and Puja Mahato picked up 1 wicket each to secure the win.
